Trust Your Unchanging GOD With Your Changing Tomorrows

"Every time you pray you are graced with the reminder that you were not hardwired to make it on your own"-PAUL DAVID TRIPP

"It takes pride to be anxious- I am not wise enough to know how my life should go"-TIM KELLER

"Both worry and stress reek of arrogance"-FRANCIS CHAN

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? The last day of 2010 is quickly fading away right before our own eyes. What this means is that one chapter of our life is coming to a close and another about to begin. As I prayerfully reflect on the year that had just passed and anticipate the new year that is yet to begin, I can’t help but wonder what kind of changes the future holds.

This past year involved changes for most of us. We were prepared for some while others came unexpectedly. Either they were pleasant and refreshing or difficult and uncomfortable to deal with. Today, with one foot in 2010 and the other about to step into 2011 we wonder what other changes are lurking around the corner for us.

WITH CHANGES COME UNCERTAINTIES. Sometimes changes become a breeding ground for fear and doubt within us. Often, when we confront change in our lives we go into a panic mode, don’t we? We suffocate ourself with the What, When, How, Where and the Who questions of life. This forces us to resist anything new or different making us want to hold on to the familiar.

What do you think provides us the stability in this changing world? What could prepare us for the uncertainties of life? What could give us the confidence to face the New Year regardless of what it holds for us? If we are honest, we would confess that this world or the things of this world cannot help us the way we want them to as they themselves are constantly changing.

GOD, on the other hand, is eternal and does not change. Scripture reminds us that GOD does not change (Malachi 3:6) and that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). So, it only makes practical sense to trust an unchanging GOD as we journey through this changing world. Jesus promised us that he would be with us to the end. People change, places change, fads change and time changes, but Jesus, His love, justice, mercy and grace for us remains the same.

I AM URGING YOU TO STEP INTO THIS New Year with me anticipating difficult as well as refreshing changes in our lives. What gives us the confidence to face them, engage them and use them for GOD’s glory is the awareness that Jesus is with us and that His grace is enough to sustain us through all that 2011 has in store for us.

So, are you willing to accept changes in your life knowing that an unchanging GOD holds our changing tomorrows?
